Schengen Visa (Type C) — Tourist / Family Visit
Short-stay visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism or visiting family and friends in Poland. Filed in person at the Embassy of Poland in Islamabad after registering on e-konsulat. Refusal rates on this route are high, so the quality of the evidence matters more than the volume.
- e-konsulat application form printed and signed, plus an in-person appointment in Islamabad (no walk-ins, no postal filing)
- Invitation (zaproszenie) registered by the Polish voivode, or hotel bookings plus a return flight reservation
- Travel medical insurance covering at least EUR 30,000 across the Schengen area
- Last six months of bank statements with salary slips, NTN or tax return, or business registration
- Proof of ties to Pakistan: employer letter with approved leave, property papers, or family documents
- Passport issued within the last 10 years, valid at least three months beyond the return date, plus a 35x45mm photo under six months old
Schengen Visa (Type C) — Business Visit
Short-stay visa for meetings, negotiations, trade fairs, supplier visits or training with a Polish company, up to 90 days in any 180. Same visa type as the tourist route, but assessed on the commercial relationship rather than on travel plans.
- Invitation letter from the Polish company stating the purpose, exact dates and who bears the costs
- Pakistani side documents: employer letter, NTN certificate, SECP or firm registration, or Chamber of Commerce membership
- Proof of the trade relationship: contracts, purchase orders, invoices or letters of credit
- Travel medical insurance of at least EUR 30,000 and a confirmed return booking
- e-konsulat registration and in-person appointment at the Embassy in Islamabad
Airport Transit Visa (Type A)
Pakistani nationals are on the EU common list, so an airport transit visa is required even to change planes inside the international transit area of a Schengen airport such as Warsaw Chopin. It does not permit you to leave the transit area or enter Poland.
- Confirmed onward ticket to a non-Schengen destination, with the visa or entry permit for that destination where one is needed
- Passport issued within the last 10 years and valid at least three months beyond the transit date
- Schengen travel medical insurance of at least EUR 30,000
- e-konsulat form, 35x45mm photo and in-person appointment in Islamabad
- Evidence of residence within the consular district
National Visa (Type D) — University Study
Long-stay national visa, valid up to one year, for a bachelor's, master's or doctoral programme at a Polish university. After arrival you convert it into a temporary residence permit for studies. Full-time students may work in Poland without a separate work permit.
- Admission or acceptance letter from a Polish higher education institution listed in the POL-on register
- Receipt for tuition paid for at least the first semester or year
- Proof of maintenance funds for the whole stay, or an official scholarship award letter (for example NAWA)
- HEC-attested, MOFA-apostilled and sworn-translated matric, FSc and degree documents
- IELTS or medium-of-instruction certificate where the university requires it
- Health insurance valid in Poland and confirmed accommodation
National Visa (Type D) — Language Course / Vocational School
National visa for a Polish or English language course, a preparatory foundation year, or a post-secondary vocational school (szkoła policealna). Scrutiny of these applications from Pakistan is heavy — the consul is testing whether you are a genuine student, so the file has to answer that question on its own.
- Enrolment confirmation and paid fee receipt from a school entered in the Polish register of schools and institutions
- Course timetable showing full-time attendance, start and end dates
- Proof of maintenance funds covering the full course period
- Academic record consistent with the course, plus a written study plan explaining why this course in Poland
- Health insurance valid in Poland and confirmed accommodation
Researcher / PhD Route — National Visa (D) and Residence Permit for Scientific Research
For researchers and doctoral candidates hosted by an approved Polish research unit or doctoral school under a hosting agreement, with a residence permit covering the duration of the project. Family members of researcher permit holders are exempt from the usual family reunification waiting period.
- Hosting agreement with an approved Polish research institution, or a doctoral school admission letter
- Doctorate, or a qualification giving access to doctoral programmes, apostilled and sworn-translated
- Proof of stipend, grant or own funds for the whole project period
- Comprehensive health insurance valid in Poland and confirmed accommodation
Graduate Job-Search Residence Permit (9 months)
A one-time 9-month temporary residence permit for graduates of Polish higher education institutions to look for work or set up a business. It must be filed inside Poland, at the voivodeship office, while your study-based stay is still valid — you cannot apply for it from Pakistan.
- Diploma from a Polish higher education institution
- Application filed while still legally resident on the study permit or visa, and only once
- Proof of funds for the whole nine-month period and health insurance
- Accommodation documents; graduates of full-time studies may work without a separate work permit
Work Permit Type A plus National Visa (Type D) — Employment
The main route into Poland. A Polish employer obtains a Type A work permit from the voivode, filed electronically on praca.gov.pl — the labour market test was abolished on 1 June 2025 — and you then apply for the national work visa in Islamabad. The permit is tied to that employer, that position and that salary.
- Original Type A work permit issued by the voivode to a verified Polish employer, carrying your passport details
- Signed job offer or contract matching the permit on position, hours and salary, at or above the Polish statutory minimum wage
- Trade certificates, degrees or experience letters matching the job title, apostilled and translated where requested
- Passport valid at least three months beyond the visa — in practice 12 months or more for a one-year work visa
- e-konsulat registration and in-person appointment at the Embassy in Islamabad
- Health insurance and proof of accommodation for the first period of stay
Temporary Residence and Work Permit (Single Permit)
The combined residence-and-work card, valid for up to 3 years, applied for from inside Poland at the voivodeship office (increasingly through the MOS e-portal). This is what most work-visa holders switch to and renew once they are already living in Poland.
- Legal stay in Poland on the day of filing, with fingerprints given in person at the voivodeship office
- Employer attachment (załącznik nr 1) confirming the post, working hours and salary
- Salary at or above the statutory minimum on a full-time-equivalent contract
- Health insurance (NFZ or private) and a rental or ownership document for your accommodation
- Proof of a stable and regular source of income for the whole period applied for
EU Blue Card (Highly Qualified Employment)
Residence permit for highly qualified professionals on a Polish contract paying at least 150% of the average gross salary announced for the relevant year. It gives faster family reunification and the option to apply to move to another EU state later, under that state's own conditions.
- Higher education qualification from a course of at least three years, recognised or apostilled and sworn-translated (comparable senior professional experience is accepted only where the current rules allow)
- Polish employment contract of at least 12 months — we confirm the minimum duration in force before you sign
- Gross salary of at least 150% of the announced average salary; that threshold has run around PLN 12,000–13,500 a month in recent years and is re-announced annually, so it must be checked on the day you file
- Health insurance and proof of accommodation in Poland
- Legal stay in Poland when filing, or a national visa to enter first
Seasonal Work Permit (Type S) plus National Visa (Type D)
Permit for up to 9 months in a calendar year in agriculture, horticulture and hospitality or tourism, issued by the district labour office (starosta) to the employer, followed by a national work visa. Open to Pakistani nationals — but not the simplified declaration route, which is reserved for nationals of Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
- Registered Type S permit naming you, the employer and the seasonal sector
- Contract stating hours, hourly rate and the exact season dates
- Accommodation arranged by the employer, with the standard and any rent stated in writing
- Evidence of ties to Pakistan and intention to return at the end of the season
Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) Permit and Posted-Worker Work Permits (Types C–E)
For managers, specialists and trainee employees moved from a foreign group company to its Polish entity, and for staff posted to Poland by a foreign employer. The ICT residence permit runs up to 3 years for managers and specialists and 1 year for trainees; posted workers use work permit types C, D or E.
- Documented corporate relationship between the foreign employer and the Polish entity (group structure and KRS extract)
- Employment with the sending group company for the period immediately before the transfer, at least 3 months and longer for some categories
- Assignment or secondment letter stating position, duration, salary and place of work in Poland
- Degrees or professional qualifications for the specialist or managerial post
- Health insurance valid in Poland plus the posting and ZUS paperwork required for your category
Temporary Residence Permit for Business Activity (Self-Employment)
For foreigners running a Polish company — normally a sp. z o.o., since Pakistani nationals cannot freely register as sole traders. The business must show income of at least 12 times the average monthly salary in the voivodeship in the year before the application, or employ at least two full-time workers with free labour-market access, or prove it has the resources to reach that.
- KRS-registered Polish company with you as shareholder and/or board member
- Business plan, filed annual accounts, and ZUS and tax office (urząd skarbowy) clearance certificates
- Proof that the income or employment threshold is met, or documented funds showing you can meet it
- Stable income for your own maintenance, an accommodation contract and health insurance
- Type B work permit if you sit on the management board for more than 6 months in any 12
Temporary Residence Permit for Family Reunification
For the spouse and minor unmarried children of a foreigner already settled in Poland. The permit gives full access to the Polish labour market without a separate work permit. The sponsor files in Poland; the family then collects an entry visa in Islamabad.
- Sponsor holds permanent residence, EU long-term residence, an EU Blue Card, ICT or researcher permit — or has held temporary residence permits for about 2 years with a current permit valid at least 1 year
- Nikahnama and NADRA marriage certificate, children's birth certificates and FRC, apostilled by MOFA and sworn-translated into Polish
- Sponsor's stable income above the statutory threshold for the whole family: contract, payslips and PIT return
- Rental or ownership documents for accommodation of adequate size, plus health insurance for each family member
Temporary Residence Permit — Spouse of a Polish Citizen
Residence permit for the foreign spouse of a Polish citizen, granted for up to 3 years with immediate access to the labour market. Permanent residence becomes possible after 3 years of marriage and 2 years of continuous residence in Poland on this permit.
- Pakistani marriage certificate and nikahnama, apostilled and transcribed (umiejscowienie) into the Polish civil registry
- Polish spouse's ID card or passport and proof of their residence in Poland
- Evidence of a genuine, continuing relationship — interviews and home visits are common
- Joint accommodation documents and health insurance valid in Poland

Why Poland
What makes Poland worth it
Among the EU's biggest work-permit markets
Poland is consistently one of the EU's largest issuers of first residence permits for work. Since 1 June 2025 the labour market test (informacja starosty) has been abolished and employers file the Type A permit electronically on praca.gov.pl — but the permit still has to come from a real, verified Polish employer.
Affordable EU degrees taught in English
English-taught bachelor's and master's programmes commonly run EUR 2,000-6,000 a year (medicine and dentistry cost far more). Full-time students may work in Poland without a separate work permit, and graduates of Polish universities can apply once for a 9-month job-search residence permit.
Schengen travel on your Polish document
A Polish national visa or residence card lets you travel in the other 28 Schengen states for up to 90 days in any 180 — for tourism only, it is not permission to work there. EU Blue Card holders can later apply to move to another EU country under that country's own rules.
A genuine settlement path, but a slow one
Five years of legal residence, with stable income and B1 Polish, leads to EU long-term resident status. The spouse of a Polish citizen can apply for permanent residence after three years of marriage and two years on the spouse permit. Voivodeship offices routinely take many months — plan for the wait.

FAQ
Poland questions, answered
Can I apply for a Poland work visa directly from Pakistan?
Yes, but only after a Polish employer has obtained a work permit for you, filed electronically through praca.gov.pl. You then complete the form on e-konsulat.gov.pl and appear in person at the Embassy of Poland in Islamabad — the embassy does not accept walk-ins, or applications sent by post, fax or email. Appointment slots are the real bottleneck. They cost nothing, so anyone selling you a slot, or selling you a work permit, is running a scam.
How high is the refusal risk for a Pakistani passport holder?
It is real, especially for short-stay Schengen visit visas and language-course applications, where weak home ties, unverifiable funds and doubts about the sponsor are the usual refusal grounds. Since the 2023 consular visa scandal Poland verifies employers and work permits far more closely, so a forged or purchased work permit now means refusal and, in most cases, an entry ban. Documented, taxed income and a consistent six-month banking history count for more than a thick file — we will tell you plainly if your case is not ready to file.
Does Poland have a digital nomad visa or a golden visa?
No. Poland has no digital-nomad visa and no residency- or citizenship-by-investment programme — anyone offering you a Polish golden visa is selling something that does not exist. Remote workers and entrepreneurs realistically incorporate a Polish company (usually a sp. z o.o., minimum PLN 5,000 share capital) and apply for a temporary residence permit for business activity, which carries income or hiring thresholds you must meet, or show you can meet.
When can my wife and children join me in Poland?
Usually not immediately. A standard work-permit holder normally needs about two years of temporary residence permits in Poland, and a current permit valid for at least one year, before sponsoring a spouse and minor children — plus income above the statutory threshold and accommodation of adequate size. EU Blue Card, intra-company transfer and researcher permit holders are exempt from that waiting period. Nikahnama, NADRA marriage and birth certificates and the FRC must be apostilled by MOFA in Pakistan and translated by a Polish sworn translator.
