Maldives visas, from Pakistan.

A free 30-day visa granted at Velana International Airport to Pakistani passport holders, as to almost every nationality. No pre-approval, embassy submission or interview — but it carries no right to work or study, and entry is decided by the immigration officer on the day.

• Proof of funds — around USD 100 plus USD 50 per day of stay, or a confirmed prepaid booking covering accommodation and meals

Extends the 30-day visa on arrival, up to a total stay of 90 days. Applied for inside the Maldives on the IMUGA portal before the current visa expires; overstaying triggers fines and removal.

• Extension application submitted on IMUGA before the existing 30-day visa expires
• Written confirmation from the registered accommodation provider or a Maldivian sponsor
• Confirmed onward air ticket dated inside the extended period
• Bank statement or cash evidence covering the extended stay
• Passport valid for the whole of the extended period

For company directors, investors, contractors and consultants carrying out business activity for a registered Maldivian company. Filed by the local company, not by the traveller, and granted for limited periods at a time — it does not permit salaried employment, which needs a work permit.

• Application filed by the registered Maldivian company through the government business portal
• Company registration certificate and, where required, Ministry of Economic Development endorsement
• Invitation letter from the company stating the business purpose and the dates of the visit
• Passport valid at least 6 months with a recent white-background photograph
• Confirmed return ticket and accommodation booking for the visit

The single employment route into the Maldives, used for resort and hospitality staff, construction, technicians and professionals. The employer obtains expatriate quota, an Employment Approval and the work permit through Immigration's Xpat system; the work visa itself is completed after you land.

• Signed job offer or employment agreement from a Maldivian employer registered on the Xpat system
• Employer-held expatriate quota approval and an Employment Approval issued before you fly
• Work visa completed on the Xpat Online System within about 15 days of arrival in Malé
• Medical screening at an approved Maldivian clinic and employer-arranged local health insurance
• Passport bio-data copy, standard-format photograph, and degree or experience certificates attested by HEC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad

For foreign students enrolled at a recognised Maldivian institution such as the Maldives National University, the Islamic University of Maldives or Villa College. A sponsorship declaration is approved before travel and the student visa is filed with Immigration after arrival.

• Acceptance or enrolment letter from an institution recognised by the Maldives Qualifications Authority
• Sponsorship declaration approved on IMUGA by the institution or a Maldivian sponsor before you travel
• Student visa application lodged with Maldives Immigration within the deadline stated on the approval (typically the first 30 days after arrival)
• Medical report from an approved Maldivian hospital plus local health insurance
• Attested academic transcripts and passport bio-data page
• Bank statements and tuition payment receipts covering fees and living costs

For the spouse and children of an expatriate employed in the Maldives in a category permitted to sponsor family. The worker acts as sponsor and must first have the dependant approved on a sponsorship declaration before they travel.

• Sponsor holding a valid Maldivian work permit and visa in a category allowed to sponsor dependants, and meeting Immigration's salary threshold
• Sponsorship declaration approved on IMUGA before the dependant travels
• NADRA marriage registration certificate or birth certificate, attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad
• Dependant's passport bio-data page and standard-format photograph
• Medical screening report and Maldivian health insurance for the dependant

Residence for the foreign spouse of a Maldivian citizen, sponsored by the Maldivian partner and applied for inside the Maldives through Immigration. Granted initially for a limited period and renewable in longer blocks once the marriage is established.

• Marriage certificate registered with the Maldives Family Court
• Maldivian spouse's national ID card copy and written sponsorship
