Transit Visa

For passing through Kazakhstan to a third country by air, road or rail, normally for up to five days. If you stay airside on a single through-ticket you do not need one; you do need it if you clear immigration, change airports or travel overland. Pakistan is not covered by Kazakhstan's visa-free transit schemes, but transit is generally the one category that does not require an invitation.

C3 Work Visa (employer work permit)

The main employer-sponsored route. Your Kazakh employer must first obtain a permit to engage foreign labour under the annual quota — category 1 managers, category 2 heads of structural divisions, category 3 specialists, category 4 skilled workers — after advertising the vacancy domestically. Employees transferred within the same corporate group use the same C3 visa but are normally exempt from the quota and the domestic vacancy search.

2–4 months in total: domestic advertising and permit about 6–10 weeks, then 5–10 working days for the visaConsular fee approx. US$100–200 depending on validity and entries; the employer pays the work-permit state fee in KZT, which varies by category and sector

  • Invitation with visa support number and passport valid for the visa period

C5 Business Immigrant Visa

For entrepreneurs setting up a company in Kazakhstan or joining an existing one as founder or shareholder. Normally issued as a shorter single-entry visa at the embassy and then replaced inside Kazakhstan with a longer multiple-entry visa once the company and your role are registered.

Accompanying Family Visa (spouse and children)

Spouses and children under 18 of a C3 work visa or C9 study visa holder are normally issued visas in the same category and for the same period as the main applicant, on the sponsoring employer's or university's invitation. These visas do not carry a right to work in Kazakhstan.

  • Invitation covering the family members, filed by the sponsoring employer or university
  • NADRA marriage registration certificate and children's birth certificates, MOFA-attested/apostilled and translated

Why Kazakhstan

What makes Kazakhstan worth it

Medical and engineering degrees at Central Asian prices

English-medium MBBS, dentistry and engineering programmes in Almaty, Astana, Karaganda, Semey and Shymkent, typically US$4,000–6,000 a year — well below Turkish or European tuition. We only place students at medical colleges listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, and we check the current PMDC rules for your specific university before you pay anyone.

No e-visa, no visa on arrival — the invitation comes first

Pakistani passport holders are outside Kazakhstan's visa-free list and outside the e-visa system, and are not among the nationalities who may apply without an invitation. Every category, tourism included, needs a visa-support invitation obtained inside Kazakhstan first, then an in-person application at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Islamabad.

Work permits are real, but the employer drives them

Kazakhstan publishes an annual quota for engaging foreign labour, split into category 1 managers, category 2 heads of structural divisions, category 3 specialists and category 4 skilled workers. Your employer must advertise the vacancy domestically and hold the permit before you can apply for the C3 visa. Skilled and managerial offers are a realistic route; general or unskilled labour is not.

A founder route — not a golden visa

Entrepreneurs who register a Kazakh company or join one as a shareholder can use the C5 business immigrant visa. We do not sell residency-by-investment or "golden visa" packages for Kazakhstan: if a scheme is not something we can point to in the current rules, we will tell you so rather than take a fee for it.

FAQ

Kazakhstan questions, answered

Can a Pakistani passport holder use the Kazakhstan e-visa or arrive visa-free?

No. Pakistan is not on Kazakhstan's visa-free list, is not eligible for the e-visa, and is not among the countries whose citizens may apply without an invitation. Every category — even tourism — needs an invitation registered by a host inside Kazakhstan first, after which you apply in person at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Islamabad. Anyone offering you a Kazakh visa with no invitation is selling you a problem.

How long does the whole process really take from Faisalabad?

Budget four to six weeks for visit, business and family cases: the invitation takes roughly ten working days once your host files it, the embassy then takes about 5–10 working days, plus your trip to Islamabad to submit in person. Study cases run six to ten weeks because the university invitation is slower — start three months before the semester. Employer-sponsored work cases run two to four months because the work permit is obtained first. Consular fees are not refunded if you are refused.

Is an MBBS from Kazakhstan accepted back in Pakistan?

Only if you do it in the right order. Before you leave, the college must be listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, you need a valid MDCAT result, and you must hold the PMDC eligibility certificate/NOC. On your return you must pass the National Licensing Examination before you can practise. Recognition lists and PMDC rules change, so we confirm your specific university in writing at the time you apply rather than relying on an agent's brochure.

How hard is a Kazakhstan work visa, and what causes refusals?

It is a real route, but employer-led and not open to unskilled work. Kazakhstan caps foreign labour with an annual quota, and your employer must first advertise the vacancy domestically through the state Electronic Labour Exchange (enbek.kz) and obtain a permit naming your category — manager, head of division, specialist or skilled worker. Genuine skilled and managerial offers do get through; general labour jobs realistically do not. Refusals usually trace back to a weak or unverifiable invitation, qualifications that do not match the permit category, unclear funds, or a previous overstay.
